WRITES OF PASSAGE is a curriculum of meaning, a series of
workshops and classes on using the art and practice of writing as
an opportunity for finding our truest voice. We use poetic elements
and phrases as a way of moving into the center of ourselves and
writing from there, the place underneath the logic of the thinking
mind.
The purpose of this work is to try to locate and then keep our
authenticity, and then to be with others who are doing the honest
work of trying to locate theirs. In any age group or population
it is a way of getting down into the roots of our feelings and a
method for combing through the tangles in our thinking and feelings
combined.
Writing can inspire us. It can change and open our world. Through
our own hand, from our own voice still inside, it can guide us to
the hope in our lives.
We are dying of not being the truth in this world. We live feeling
no permission to speak and then spend our lives in a prison called
between the truth and what I tell you. The intimacy of this
kind of poetry, the essential need for it in our lives is to bring
us back home to ourselves again and again until we can finally live
there.

is
part of a curriculum of meaning, of finding out who we are and how
we fit together into a whole greater than the sum of the parts from
the upcoming book by Vicky Edmonds. They are a series of births,
stages of growth, into and using always larger truths to move out
of our worthlessness, back toward our innocence and make meaning
in our lives.
